How Long Have I Been Awake?

Hello!

We have officially arrived in Manchester! After 15 hours of travel (don't quote me on that, math is not my strong suit) we are in an entirely new country, on an entirely different continent than the one we started in.

I have heard horror stories about traveling to Europe so I wasn't particularly excited about the prospect of actually doing the traveling myself. I had to leave Anchorage at 2:30 am in order to meet up with the group in Seattle before we boarded the plane taking us to Europe. Due to some family events I didn't sleep that night, and as I'm writing this right now I can definitely feel the effects of not having slept in a day and a half.

Update: flying internationally is amazing. The tickets said we were getting "lunch and snack" so I naturally had very low hopes about this. Turns out, lunch and snack means lunch and several snacks. Flying domestically is going to be terrible after this experience. Not only did we get food, we also got a pillow and blanket which was amazing. It really helped in the one and a half hours of sleep I got on the nine hour flight.

We flew from Seattle to Amsterdam for the first leg of the trip. After an hour long layover in Amsterdam, mostly spent walking around the airport, we boarded our flight for the last bit of our journey to Manchester. After a short flight, making it through customs, picking up luggage, and getting to the hotel, we are settling in nicely.

We are meeting in two hours to get a tour of Manchester, and other than a scheduled dinner we are relaxing and trying to get accustomed to the new time zone.

I absolutely cannot believe that we are here, and I cannot wait for the adventures to continue!
